Certificate in Chiropractic Sports Physician - CCSP®

Program Information

One of the most requested programs to date has been the Chiropractic Sports Physician course. Parker University is delighted to present this invaluable curriculum for you  once again – with a twist this year. We are offering a hybrid course which includes in-person lectures that emphasize hands-on activities held on the Parker campus and distance-based coursework that maximizes your learning investment and saves you time.  A minimum of 100 hours is necessary to sit for the exam – to achieve these hours both the live and online components are necessary.

The live dates are:

March 25-26, 2017: The Spine, Concussion, and Team Physician Concepts – Dr. Darrin Hancock

April 8-9, 2017: Chiropractic Management of the Extremities – Dr. Ann Sorrentino

May 6-7, 2017: Emergency Procedures in Sports (**Please note: this is a mandatory session) – Paula Robinson, EMT

June 24-25, 2017: Correlative Case Studies in Sports Chiropractic – Dr. Bob Nelson

The online coursework includes the following areas of study:

  • Medical legal issues in sports
  • Upper and lower extremity evaluation/management

  • Special populations in sports
  • Introduction to rehabilitation
  • Nutritional considerations

Course Requirements

**Current DC students are allowed to take ONLY one of the live modules prior to graduation and  must be Tri-7 or above to attend.  Students are not eligible to take the online portion.

  • The CCSP® (Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician®) certification requires the doctor attend a minimum of 100 hours of a postgraduate CCSP® program.  Following the completion of these hours, the doctor must take and successfully pass a comprehensive written examination to receive the CCSP® certification.  A CCSP® is required to obtain 12.0 hours continuing education each year specific to the topic of sports medicine.  In addition, they must pay an annual maintenance fee and maintain a current CPR certification.  For more specific information regarding both the examination and the recertification procedures, visit www.acbsp.com.
  • The ACBSP requires all applicant hours must be on one transcript. You cannot combine hours from multiple institutions to accrue the hours necessary to sit for the certification examination.
  • CPR – Do not forget your CPR certification. It is required to sit for the ACBSP™ exam.  CPR certification can be earned through your local American Red Cross or most community colleges.  The ACBSP requires that certificants maintain a healthcare provider level CPR certification that has a hands-on component.
